Group History

42nd Chester Scout Group started in the ‘Tin Chapel’ Walker Street, Hoole, Chester in 1957, The Tin Chapel erected in 1894 following a dispute between nonconformist who had run a successful Sunday School.

In August 1957 the first sod was cut and two years later Hoole Congregational Church moved to the present site on Hoole Road (Hoole United Reformed Church) where we used to meet the Tin Chapel became Braids Furniture Store.

With arrangements with the city Council wooden huts would be erected as the building of the Church was commenced unfortunately before the wooden huts were built, winds came snow fell and the huts were flatten , however these huts were rebuilt and there the group meet until the present halls were built.

And this is where 42nd Chester Scout Group now meets, Hoole United Reformed Church.
